What the quote usually covers — and what it often does not

In water treatment and filling projects, the host machine (such as a bottle washing-filling-capping unit or a barrel cleaning station) is only one component of the full production line. Many procurement teams discover late in the process that the quoted price does not include the surrounding systems required for safe, stable operation.
Based on common industry practice and our delivery scope, a host machine quote may exclude:

  • Water treatment and purification systems
  • Bottle or barrel conveyance, labeling, and packaging modules
  • Utility support (compressed air, cooling water, electrical panels, cable trays)
  • Piping, ductwork, and site installation
  • Transportation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), commissioning, operator training, and spare parts

If these items are not explicitly listed in the technical configuration table, they are typically treated as optional or customer-supplied. This is why comparing quotes by the lowest host machine price alone can be misleading.

How to read a technical configuration table

Before shortlisting suppliers, confirm the following items in the quotation and technical attachment:

  1. System boundary: Does the quote cover only the host machine, or does it include water treatment, conveyance, packaging, and utilities? Ask for a clear scope matrix that separates standard, optional, and customer-supplied items.
  2. Capacity and speed definition: Rated output must be tied to specific operating conditions. For example, a bottled spring water filling line may be rated at 200–1,800 bottles/hour based on 18.9 L containers, while a purified water line may reach 200–2,500 bottles/hour depending on bottle type and process configuration. Confirm the container size, material, and running conditions used for the stated rate.
  3. Process and sterilization scope: For purified water applications, confirm whether the system includes multi-media filtration, activated carbon, softening, precision filtration, and dual-stage RO, along with ozone and UV (254 nm) sterilization. For spring water, verify whether the process uses dual-membrane NF + UF to balance purification with mineral retention.
  4. Delivery and support items: Clarify whether FAT, site installation, commissioning, operator training, and initial spare parts are included. If not, request a separate line item so you can compare total project cost accurately.

Replacement and upgrade scenarios: what to verify on site

When replacing or upgrading an existing line, the host machine specification is only part of the decision. The following boundary checks help avoid integration risks:

  • Utility and layout compatibility: Confirm that the new system matches your existing power supply, compressed air capacity, cooling water loop, and floor space. Clean air support systems, for example, may require 1,500–20,000 m³/h airflow and pressure zoning based on your cleanroom layout.
  • Container and format changeover: If you plan to run multiple bottle or barrel sizes, confirm that the line supports quick changeover. Our bottled spring water line is compatible with 18.9 L, 11.3 L, 5 L, and other standard drinking water bottles; purified water lines support 5 L, 11.3 L, and 18.9 L (5-gallon) formats. Verify that changeover tools, adjustment points, and PLC recipe switching are included.
  • Cleaning and sanitation boundaries: For recycled barrels, confirm whether the line includes separate stations for cap removal, external brushing, internal washing, disinfection, and final rinse. For CIP (Clean-in-Place) circuits, verify loop coverage, dead-end elimination, and how cleaning completion is validated beyond a simple timer.
